(East Gallery) The Coral Springs Museum of Art is pleased to announce a group exhibition titled “New Acquisitions from the Permanent Collection,” which will coincide with the public opening reception for the scheduled exhibitions on September 17.
The show will feature artists who create and show contemporary art in South Florida and who represent a high level of professionalism and artistic achievement. The eight artists offered here have been acquired by the museum through the generosity of guest curator Bruce Helander, who gave these works from his private collection to the museum. Artists include Judi Regal, Curtis Kelly, Stanley Casselman, Elizabeth Thompson, Joseph Conrad-Ferm, Jackie Gorissen, Susan Lundin and Peggy Greenfield.
Helander, who has been a guest curator of numerous exhibitions at the museum over the past decade, is an art critic and regular contributor of art reviews to The Huffington Post, as well as other publications. Due to his professional involvement as an arts writer, Helander continues to discover a great deal of genuine emerging talent, which he often writes about and collects. “I am very pleased to be involved with the Coral Springs Museum of Art, particularly on a curatorial level, and to be in a position to donate a selection of works from my personal collection to the museum, where they will receive enduring public exposure as well as supporting individual artists’ careers,” Helander said. “Certainly an important part of the museum’s duties is to present new forms of artistic expression, and add to the permanent collection while supporting the mission to preserve and exhibit works of art.”
