Fromm introduces artist Charles Deering’s commitment to environmental preservation in Biscayne Bay and his world-class art collection he brought to his estate nearly 100 years ago. \nSpeaker: Annette B. Fromm \nAnnette B. Fromm is a folklorist who specializes in ethnicity and immigrant cultures and has worked in museums for over 35 years. She has curated exhibits about Native American history and art\, and writes and speaks about multiculturalism and museums\, ethnographic museum practices\, and more. SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Continuum: Heritage and Expression
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Opening Reception for Continuum: Heritage & Expression\, the inaugural exhibition of the Haitian Women Fine Art Collective (HAWFA)\, a sisterhood of artists united through culture\, creativity\, and mutual support. Presented at the Coral Springs Museum of Art in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month\, this exhibition explores identity\, memory\, and transformation through painting\, textile\, and metalwork. Each work reflects a personal journey while contributing to a shared narrative of resilience\, beauty\, and cultural continuity\, honoring the past while shaping contemporary Haitian artistic expression. The artwork will be on view in the Center for the Arts Lobby Hall Gallery through May 29. \nIn addition to celebrating the work of these talented female artists\, the event will also honor the life and legacy of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer with remarks from Commissioner Joshua Simmons\, commemorative artwork by Harold Caudio\, and a memory ribbon art activity. \nGuests are invited to attend Coral Springs’ annual National Day of Prayer ceremony beginning at 7pm in the adjacent Coral Springs Center for the Arts theater. \nAdmission to both the Opening Reception and National Day of Prayer is free. Light bites will be provided and select beverages will be available for purchase inside the Museum’s Main Gallery.

DESCRIPTION:Join exhibiting artist Giannina Dwin for a hands-on ceramic workshop inspired by the artwork currently on view in our galleries. The program will begin with a short\, guided walk through the exhibition\, where participants will explore selected ceramic works and discover the ideas that inspire the creative process. \nUsing the pinch-pot technique\, participants will shape clay into their own imagined seed pod forms—botanical-inspired sculptures that celebrate growth\, movement\, and transformation. A brief discussion on the symbolism and power of seeds will spark creativity before the making begins. Alternative project ideas and examples will also be available for those who wish to explore other forms.\nNo prior experience is necessary. All materials will be provided\, and participants will create one or more clay pieces to be left to dry after the workshop. \nSpace is limited. DESCRIPTION:In this lecture\, Clyde Butcher shares the story of his life in photography\, from his early years behind the camera to his deep connection with America’s wild landscapes. The presentation traces his path from architectural model photography to early black and white and color landscapes\, and ultimately to the large format black and white work for which he is best known. \nThrough powerful images from across the United States and Florida\, Clyde reflects on his photographic process\, the challenges and rewards of working in the natural world\, and how his career led him into environmental conservation. The lecture offers both a personal retrospective and a visual journey through places that have shaped his life and work. \nThe presentation concludes with a question-and-answer session with the audience.
