Central to this interactive experience is a large-format loom where participants can contribute to a weaving project\, blending individual creativity into a shared tapestry of connection and heritage. \nThis communal installation acts as a bridge to our roots\, heritage\, and ancestral connections\, revealing the rich symbolism embedded within patterns and designs. Each thread carries a story\, weaving a tapestry that links us to the lives and legacies of those who came before us. \nLearn basic and advanced weaving techniques like warping the loom\, Tabby weaving\, Rya knots\, Interlocking\, Soumak\, Loop stitch\, and taking the weave off the loom. \nChildren must be supervised by their parents or guardians. \nRSVP for Workshop

DESCRIPTION:Stop by the Museum in your costumes for a free afternoon of art and sweet treats during Museum Family Day on Saturday\, October 25 from 12 to 4 PM! \nEvent activities:\n– Browse Jay’s Bookstore Pop-Up Shop\n– Enjoy a seasonal story time\n– Create and keep a themed art project\n– Enhance your costume with custom face painting\n– Participate in a Community Toy Exchange by Toy Trader App in partnership with Supermoms of South Florida\n– Trick or Treat at our Museum Front Desk to score some candy! \n\n\n\nIn addition to art activities and tasty treats\, families can be among the first to explore our new exhibit\, “Transitions:” A Partnership with SOBRA Collective.  Families can also register on site for art classes starting November 2 and more. \nFree Museum Family Day events take place periodically as an extension of our ARTventures program which is traditionally held once per month on select Saturdays from 2 to 3 p.m. ARTventures\, which is also free\, starts with a tour of the current exhibit and culminates with a fun and engaging activity for the whole family. \nAdmission to the Museum and the Museum Family Day is free.
