DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception:\nJoin us for an Opening Reception showcasing work by talented South Florida-based artists that represent the intricacies of Hispanic heritage and the cultural\, social\, and aesthetic negotiations that emerge from the experience of immigration within the Hispanic diaspora. \nAbout the Exhibition:\nOn view October 2 – 29\nEntre Dos Mundos foregrounds the ways in which artists articulate complex identities shaped by both ancestral heritage and the lived realities of their adopted environments. The works on view explore themes of displacement\, adaptation\, and continuity\, situating immigration not solely as a rupture but also as a generative process that produces new forms of cultural expression. Through visual strategies that draw from traditional iconographies\, contemporary practices\, and cross-cultural dialogues\, these artists highlight the fluidity of identity across geographic and symbolic borders. \nThe Opening Reception and exhibition are free to attend and view. Other times\, it leaves lasting impressions that shape identities and lives. Transitions\, on view from October 17\, 2025\, through January 3\, 2026\, at the Coral Springs Museum of Art explores this enduring human condition through the work of the contemporary artists of SOBRA Collective. \nTransitions features a collection of more than 30 works that reflect on moments of profound personal and collective change. Using an array of materials and processes\, the artists present deeply personal interpretations of transitions that range from physical displacement to spiritual passage\, from shifting identities to evolving states of mind. \nSOBRA Collective is a South Florida-based group of artists that aims to cultivate connection\, exposure\, and opportunities for visual artists and arts professionals in Broward County and South Florida. SUMMARY:Class: Beginning Wheel Throwing 18+
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of throwing pottery with an understanding of ceramic terms and processes needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay\, throwing basic forms\, crafting handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor\, as well as glaze\, firing\, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time. \nAttendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. Clay must be purchased from the museum. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. Includes glazing materials and weekly open studio hours. NO outside glazes are allowed.
