DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of throwing pottery with an understanding of ceramic terms and processes needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay\, throwing basic forms\, crafting handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor\, as well as glaze\, firing\, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time. \nAttendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. SUMMARY:Class: Beginning Wheel Throwing 18+
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of throwing pottery with an understanding of ceramic terms and processes needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay\, throwing basic forms\, crafting handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor\, as well as glaze\, firing\, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time. \nAttendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. Clay must be purchased from the museum. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. Includes glazing materials and weekly open studio hours. NO outside glazes are allowed. Open studio times subject to change – always call the front desk in ahead of arriving to verify studio schedule.
