DESCRIPTION:Textile waste is a pressing issue that requires innovative solutions. Transforming Threads is a hands-on workshop\, organized by FAMA\, that aims to educate participants on sustainable textile practices by repurposing fibers into yarn. Through this process\, participants will gain a deeper understanding of upcycling while engaging in a creative activity that celebrates both individuality and heritage. Central to this interactive experience is a large-format loom where participants can contribute to a weaving project\, blending individual creativity into a shared tapestry of connection and heritage. \nThis communal installation acts as a bridge to our roots\, heritage\, and ancestral connections\, revealing the rich symbolism embedded within patterns and designs. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, March 1\, 12pm-2pm\nAges 10+\, adult supervision is required\nSpaces limted. Registration is free!\n \nJoin Miami-based artist Amanda Linares for a workshop that exercises your memory muscle! In this 2-hour workshop\, participants will be introduced to memory mapping and create a work of art inspired by their memory on a ceramic tile\, handcrafted by Linares. Then\, participants will assemble their tiles together to create a large communal map\, before taking their individual creations home.
