Supply List Fall Classes – 2023
Ceramics – Wheel Throwing + Handbuilding Pottery

1. Ceramic tool kit- $15/per kit sold at museum; may be purchased elsewhere; you can keep it forever 2. 1 bag of clay- $25/bag that must be purchased at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. No outside clay allowed. 3. Roll of paper towels 4. Old hand towel 5. Newspaper
We will allow students to store clay and projects on instructor designated shelves during weeks of scheduled class only. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please put your name on all your items. We suggest you bring your tools back and forth with you. All projects and left-over clay must be picked up no later than one week after the end of the session. Items/clay that are not picked up will become property of the Museum. Students should come in early on the first day to make their purchases prior to class starting. We accept Visa, MasterCard or Cash.
Painting – Watercolor
Intro to Watercolor & Gouache
If you have painted before, bring the supplies you have to class.
1. Please bring your own reference materials. 2. Watercolor paints either in tubes or pan form. Watercolors may be purchased in sets. If purchasing individual tubes, at minimum get Permanent Rose, Transparent yellow, cobalt blue and indigo. 3. Paint palette with individual wells and cover. 4. Synthetic blend brushes: 1/2“ flat, 1” flat, #12 round, #10 round, and #8 round. 5. Paint brush holder. 6. Watercolor paper in a size that is easily transported. Masking tape and a support board to tape the paper to. 7. Small spray bottle for water. 8. Paper towels. 9. Tube of White Gouache paint
Painting- Acrylic
Introduction to Acrylic Painting
(If you have painted before, bring the supplies you have to class.)
1. Please bring pictures/photos as reference materials. 2. Acrylic paints either heavy body or fluid. At minimum you will need red, yellow, blue, titanium white, and burnt umber. Paints can also be purchased in sets. 3. Paint palette or palette paper. White paper plates work well too. 4. Synthetic blend brushes: 1/2“ flat, 1” flat, #12 round, #10 round, and #8 round. 5. Paint brush holder. 6. Primed stretched canvas or primed canvas board. Purchase the size you can transport easily. Canvas “paper” can also be used. You will need masking tape and a support board if you use canvas “paper”. 7. White gesso if you purchase an unprimed canvas or canvas board. 8. Matte medium. 9. Small spray bottle for water. 10. Paper towels.
Botanical Painting & Drawing
1. Acrylic paints either heavy body or fluid. At minimum you will need red, yellow, blue, titanium white, and burnt umber. Paints can also be purchased in sets. 2. Paint palette or palette paper. White paper plates work well too. 3. Assorted sizes of paintbrushes. 4. Canvas Paper Pad 5. Strathmore drawing pad, medium surface, 400 series 9×12” or larger 6. Graphite Pencils, 2H, 2B, & 6B 7. Kneaded eraser 8. Pink pearl eraser 9. Loew Cornell blending stumps
Abstract Painting & Medium Exploration
1. Acrylic paints either heavy body or fluid. At minimum you will need red, yellow, blue, titanium white, and burnt umber. Paints can also be purchased in sets. 2. Assorted sizes of paintbrushes (at least one large brush) 3. Palette knife 4. ARTEZA DIY Foldable Canvas Frame, Expert Watercolor, 8″ x 11″ (10 Sheet Pad) 5. Paint palette or palette paper. White paper plates work well too. 6. White Gesso (small) 7. Spray bottle 8. Containers for mixing 9. Polymer Medium (gloss only) 10. (Optional) – Stretched canvas, wood panel, or surface of choice (will discuss in class) 11. (Optional) – Rubber gloves 12. (Optional) – Assorted polymer gels and molding pastes (will discuss in class)
Painting – Oil
Intro to Oil Painting
1. Oil Paint in these colors: Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Cold Black, Mars Black. 2. Refined Linseed Oil 3. Range of Brushes sizes 0 through 6, small, flats and blender brushes 4. Metal Palette Knife 5. Cheesecloth (can be found at local grocery stores) 6. Disposable grey palette 7. 8”x10” canvas 8. Paper Towels 9. Terpenoid (No Turpentine is permitted in the studio.) 10. Glass jar with lid for Terpenoid
Painting- Outdoors
Plein Air Painting
1. Oil Paint in these colors: Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Cold Black, Mars Black. 2. Refined Linseed Oil 3. Range of Brushes sizes 0 through 6, small, flats and blender brushes 4. Metal Palette Knife 5. Cheesecloth (can be found at local grocery stores) 6. Disposable grey palette 7. 8”x10” canvas 8. Paper Towels 9. Terpenoid (No Turpentine.) 10. Glass jar with lid for Terpenoid 11. Collapsible Easel. If you do not have access to an easel, there are a limited amount to rent from the museum. 12. Outdoor supplies – Hat, sunglasses, sunblock, water, and anything else to keep comfortable. (Class will mostly be held in shaded locations, but plan for the sun as well.)
