Get ready to celebrate this Mother’s Day with a special project for two! Father’s Day Super-Dad Card
It’s the time of year to celebrate how super Dad is! Fly over to the museum ahead of this year’s Father’s Day to create a 3D card of Dad as the superhero he is! Using an assortment of papers and decorative materials, our museum educators will guide you and your child to creating a special memory that Dad is sure to remember. Spaces are limited, so sign up today. Workshop price includes making one handmade 3D card per parent and child. Materials included.

Sun + Soy Fiber Art with Andrea Huffman
Transform plain fabric into richly patterned original textiles using modified versions of Batik and Sun-Printing under the guidance of fiber artist Andrea Huffman! Transparent pigments and soy wax will be applied to white and black cotton fabrics to create patterns and designs for layering with a variety of paint techniques. Participants will also experiment with textured surfaces and textile paints to create prints on silk fabric. Additionally, fabrics will be further embellished with stamps, stencils, fabric markers, and texture rubbings to develop layers of design and patterns. A $15 material fee is included in the workshop price provides all fabrics, textile paints, wax and all other media. Participants may also bring some light colored dyed cotton fabric to experiment on as well (please no t-shirts).

Inlaid Stencil Printmaking with Victoria Englehart
Learn all about the potential of making unique prints using stencils in this workshop featuring artist Victoria Englehart! Participants will create both positive and negative stencils, print two large 12”x18” contrasting color sheets, create a large design in pieces and then inlay them to make two beautiful mirror image pieces that will be great for framing. A $20 material fee is included in workshop price.

The Joy of Spoon Carving with Ashley Look
The Joy of Carving is a craft experience designed to help participants slow down. The focus of this workshop is tactile exploration of wood carving techniques to create your own functional art. The workshop covers wood selection, spoon design, finishing oils, along with knife, blade, and carving techniques so participants can experience the joy of creating their own hand-carved kitchen tool. A $20 supply fee covers your wood. Carving tools will be provided. No experience necessary! Please bring a snack and/or lunch for the midpoint lunch hour.
