The Charm of Chines Brush Painting
Yifei Zhou was born in 1958. He was a child prodigy, drawing, painting and doing calligraphy since early childhood. He has been doing Chinese Brush Painting for more than 45 years. Today, He is a member of the prestigious Shanghai Zhonghua Calligraphy and Painting Association, a professional group affiliated to the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Art. He is also a member of the Shanghai Art & Calligraphy Association, the Chinese Calligraphy and Art Association and a master of both the Shanghai Art Institute and the prestigious Lu Zhou Art Institute. His work is in the 2017 Lu Zhou Art Institute catalogue. He is the artist of the Shanghai Jiangnan Art Institute.
He studied with many famous masters of painting and calligraphy. Lu Bolong, Wu Changyu, Shan Mai and Wu Yumei all chose him to be a private student and he spent many years under their tutelage. He studied the great works of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing masters as well as other famous masters.
Yifei Zhou’s art work illustrates his solid foundation in the traditional approach to Chinese Brush Painting. He uses various shades of black ink and colorful brush strokes to create beautiful works of art. His paintings cover landscapes, plants & flowers and animals.
His work has been published by Shanghai Art & Calligraphy Magazine and in Chinese art books. Yifei’s works are exhibited in Chinese National Art Shows and Shanghai art shows & Museums. He has also authenticated Chinese and European paintings at a Palm Beach Art Gallery.
