Beginning Wheel Throwing – Ages 18+
Learn the basics of throwing pottery with an understanding of ceramic terms and processes needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay, throwing basic forms, crafting handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor, as well as glaze, firing, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time. Attendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. Clay must be purchased from the museum. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. (Open studio times subject to change – call the front desk in advance to verify studio schedule.) All levels welcome; if you are taking this course and have experience, please note that primarily beginner instruction will be provided.

Intermediate Wheel Throwing – Ages 18+
This class is designed for those who have beginning wheel throwing experience and want to further their skills. Learn to improve your fundamentals, throw faster and larger, and elevate your glazing techniques. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor, as well as glaze, firing, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time. Attendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. Clay must be purchased from the museum. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. Prerequisite: Beginning Wheel Throwing. (Open studio times subject to change – call the front desk in advance to verify studio schedule).

Figure Drawing – Ages 18+
If you want to learn anatomy and how to draw the figure, this course is for you. Students will learn to develop the figure through proportion, shape, value, relationship lines, and gestural-action lines. All About Ink
Ink is a material that crosses boundaries in the world of art. Ink can be applied with a brush, it can be held in a pen, dipped into with a stylus, or even applied dry. Artworks made of ink can be representational or abstract, and ink can be grayscale or packed with color. Oil Mixing & Painting from a Photograph– Ages 18+
If you have ever marveled at an oil painting made by great historical painters and wondered how they controlled their medium, then this course is your answer! Using a photographic reference, you will learn to successfully mix your oil colors and guided to create paintings you never thought possible. Beginning oil painters and those who are looking to sharpen their skills are welcome. (Note: No Turpentine is allowed, Terpenoid only.) Control Your Camera! – Ages 18+
Regardless of your experience level, our Control Your Camera course is specifically designed to help you learn to better understand your own specific camera with the help of our knowledgeable photography instructor. All the most important settings such as shutter speed, ISO, F/stop, exposure compensation, and white balance will be addressed to help you master your equipment. The course is broken up into repeatable two-week mini classes so that you can return for however many sessions you need to feel confident with your camera. Digital camera required. Private Class Lessons
Looking for one on one instruction? Private classes are great for artists that are interested in developing their skills and advancing them to the next level. These special lessons are especially great for artists who prefer focused one on one instruction or for someone who can’t make it to a scheduled group class.
