Enjoy hands-on art exploration in a fun interactive learning environment. This creative play class is designed to build confidence, develop motor skills, and group social skills. Each week your child will discover unique works of art followed by a creative activity and project.  This class provides preschool prep and is sure to spark inspiration and independence. Summer Art Camps  BOOK HERE

Budding artists will take a journey across the globe during our Summer Cultural Camps.
Each day campers will have 3 different studio classes allowing them to explore various media and projects throughout the day.
Now offering limited enrollment in large spaces to accommodate Health & Safety practices.

CULTURAL CAMP

Native American Exploration: Can you believe there are over 500 Native American tribes in the United States?
Join us on a journey of discovery and become inspired by Native American art!

Captivating Colombia: Did you know Colombia is the gateway to South America? Learn about Colombia’s colorful art and magnificent culture while exploring their traditions.

Session C: July 12- July 23
Adventures in Africa: Did you know that some of the oldest art and artifacts are found in Africa? Join us on an adventure and find out about the vast wonders of African art. Discover their customs while learning about the rich and diverse culture.

Session D: July 26 – August 6
Incredible Islands: Hey MON’ do you want to learn about island life? Explore artwork from the islands of the Caribbean Sea, including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. Have fun learning about each place and enjoy the excitement of the islands!

Mini Camp
1-week session (Ages 5-12) 9:00am-4:00pm  BOOK HERE
This flexible art for art’s sake option allows campers to explore innovative and exciting ways of creating! Each day campers will work on different works of art in an environment of art exploration. Parents may sign their child up for the whole week or for single days. Campers must bring a bagged lunch that does not require refrigeration and bottled water.

Teen Art Studio
2-Week Camp Sessions (Ages 13-17)  BOOK HERE

These immersive studio classes are intended for aspiring artists and designers ages 13-17. Learn from teaching artists who will share their artistic skills and experiences first-hand. Explore new art processes to further develop as an artist. Sessions are held for 2 weeks with morning and afternoon class options. Please bring snacks and bottled water daily.

Printmaking- This class focuses on the fundamentals of printmaking. Learn to experiment with various techniques and practices of printmaking. Develop your own style and designs from start to finish.

Session B: June 28- July 9, no class July 5 9:00am-12:00pm
Comic Book Design: Create drawings of superheroes and characters and learn tricks in storyboarding, inking, lettering, and coloring. A comic book artist will guide students on how to evolve their sketches and narratives into a creative comic book story. A lively discussion of comic book history, characters, fandom, and trivia adds to the fun.

Session C: July 12- July 23 9:00am-12:00pm
Portfolio Development: Want to take you portfolio to the next level? Students will participate in group critiques and enhance their body of work for college admission.

Session D: July 26 – August 6 1:00pm -4:00pm
Drawing then Painting: Explore your technical skills and artistic approach to drawing then painting. Student’s will develop the skills needed to create a dynamic work of art from sketch to completion.

Ceramics- Clay Wheel Throwing
Instructor: Tiffany Battel
Location: In-Person, Upstairs – Pottery Studio 4

Beginning Wheel Throwing
This course introduces students to the basics of throwing pottery and provides them with an understanding of ceramic terms, processes and knowledge needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay, throwing basic forms, handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor. Students are encouraged to practice between class sessions and have free access to the pottery studio. New students may miss no more than two classes and must attend the first class and the glazing class. Hand building experience is not required but recommended. Clay is not included. A supply list is provided on the website and in your emailed receipt.

Continuing Wheel Throwing
This class is designed for those who have taken beginner wheel or have had wheel throwing experience and need further refinement in basic throwing skills in order to progress to more challenging levels. It also serves as a refresher course for students who have previously taken throwing classes but have not thrown for some time. Clay is not included. A supply list is provided on the website and in your emailed receipt.

Photography- Digital Photography

Instructor: Emily Emond
Level: Beginners to Intermediate
Location: In-Person Upstairs- Studio 3

In this class students will explore the technical aspects of the camera including light exposure, IOS, shutter speed, and aperture. Participate in a series of creative on-your-own photography assignments followed by class critiques, to improve your ability to develop your photographic eye. Students may use a digital camera in this course and are responsible for their own printing of their photographs. A supply list is provided on the website and in your emailed receipt.

Ceramics – Hand Building Pottery

Instructor: Brianna Sopourn

Beginning Hand building
This class explores techniques including pinching, coils, and slabs, and provides an overview of ceramic materials and glazing. Classes provide demonstrations and individual work time with instructor guidance. Students are encouraged to practice between class sessions and will have free access to our pottery studio. New students may not miss more than two classes and must attend the first class and the glazing class. All skill levels are welcome. Clay is not included. A supply list is provided on the website and in your emailed receipt.

Continuing Hand building
Through a combination of demonstrations and individual work time, students will further develop their hand building skills while making distinctive pieces guided by instructor. A variety of construction techniques will include soft slabs, stiff slabs, and coils. Students will learn to add flair and professionalism to their pieces by adding finishing touches such as feet and handles. This class will help individuals develop and express their own unique style through clay. Clay is not included. A supply list is provided on the website and in your emailed receipt.
Prerequisite: Beginning Hand building at CSMOA or another Arts Center. This is not for Beginners.

Painting- Acrylic Painting

Level: Beginners or those who want a refresher

Students will work with concepts of color theory, color mixing, textures, and brushwork techniques. You will learn the foundation of using acrylics and successfully complete at least 2 painting by the end of the class. Visiting artist Shawna Moulton will show her techniques in paper making. After studying with one of the oldest Japanese paper studios, Shawna will show you how to make your own paper. Create colorful and unique paper by pulp painting methods. $20 material fee is included in the price.

Visiting Artist Workshop -Silly Rabbit

Artist: Diane Lublinski

Prerequisite: Must know how to throw a bottle on the wheel

Visiting artist Diane Lublinski will show you how to construct a “Silly Rabbit” sculpture from a wheel thrown and altered form. Adding hand-built elements to your thrown piece you will begin to carve and create texture. Explore glazing methods and much more! $20 for all material fee is included in price.
Rudimentary understanding of hand building and clay is necessary, wheel is a plus. Bring a snack/lunch.

Visiting Artist Workshop – Wooden Spoon Carving

Instructor: Ashley Look

Make your very own one-of-a-kind wooden spoon in this 2-day carving course. The focus will be on the tactile exploration of wood as a creative medium and methods to shape it into a functional work of art. We will cover everything from spoon designs, wood types, and finishing oils, along with knife selection and carving techniques so participants can experience the joy of creating their own hand-carved kitchen tool. A $20 supply fee covers your wood and carving tools that will be provided. Please come wearing clothing that you do not mind getting dirty. No experience necessary!

Visiting Artist Workshop – Relief Carving and Printing

Instructor: Joseph Velasquez

In this non-toxic/ no solvent workshop, attendees will learn how to transfer drawing and printed images to a substrate (wood or linoleum). Carving tools and carving methods. Inking and printing of blocks on both paper and textiles. Ink, carving tools, paper, and woodblock/carving substrates will be provided with supply fee of $20 per person. This fee is included in the cost of the class. Bring snack/lunch.
