Power of Art – The Yellow Walk

Join Artist Kate Gilmore for the third installation in the Public Art Challenge Power of Art project, The Yellow Walk, an interactive performance installation that will take place at Coral Springs’ Art Walk (NW 31st Court), which invites the community to congregate for a healing performance. Coral Springs and Parkland residents will be selected as paid Performers, open to the public November 8 – 10, 2019. Performers will be asked to walk along a designated route for 3-hour shifts.

The Art Walk will be transformed by an 800-foot long yellow carpet on which performers will continuously walk. Audience members are invited to join in The Yellow Walk, and a paid performer will walk alongside them in solidarity.

The Power of Art is a curated series of five large-scale temporary public art installations. The artworks are created with the community and provide a variety of opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in public programming and healing experiences. The Yellow Walk offers many participation opportunities – as a performer, participant, and audience member. The public is invited to silk-screen performance shirts before the event.

Walking shifts are scheduled for the following dates and times:

  • Friday, November 8: 2 – 5 pm, 5 – 8 pm and 8 – 10 pm
  • Saturday, November 9: 8 am – 11 am, 11 am – 2 pm, 2 pm – 5 pm, 5 pm – 8 pm and 7 pm – 10 pm
