CERAMICS BOOK HERE
Beginning Wheel Throwing – Ages 18+
Learn the basics of throwing pottery with an understanding of ceramic terms and processes needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay, throwing basic forms, crafting handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor, as well as glaze, firing, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time. Attendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. Clay must be purchased from the museum. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. Includes glazing materials and weekly open studio hours. (Open studio times subject to change – call the front desk in advance to verify studio schedule.) All levels welcome; if you are taking this course and have experience, please note that primarily beginner instruction will be provided.

Regardless of your experience level, our Control Your Camera course is specifically designed to help you learn to better understand your own specific camera with the help of our knowledgeable photography instructor. The word photography literally means “drawing with light,” originating from the Greek words “phōtós,” meaning light, and “graphé,” meaning “drawing.” In this course, students will explore what it means to create a photograph, venturing beyond traditional photography and toward methods of creating images without cameras, using solutions and light.
