About the Artist:

R & R Studios, the collaborative office of Rosario Marquardt & Roberto Behar is a multidisciplinary practice weaving visual arts, architecture, design and the city.

Celebrated, as one critic put it “as architects of hope” their work proposes encounters of stories and spaces, which alternate between the political and the poetical, the quotidian and the fantastic, the real and the utopian. The project of the studio is simple: to produce artworks for the pursuit of public pleasure for all, social monuments that erase boundaries between art and life suggesting “imaginary solutions” for a better world.

Their award-winning practice has been published in over 250 publications worldwide and exhibited in museums, institutions and galleries in America and abroad. They have received American Institute of Architects awards and American for the Arts selected their projects among the best Public Art of 2007 and 2013. They are currently working in projects in Seattle, Phoenix, Des Moines, Palm Beach, Puerto Rico and in a visionary public art master plan for a new ten miles long linear park in Charleston, SC.

Roberto and Rosario received their Diplomas in Architecture from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in Argentina. Roberto completed postgraduate studies at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York City; he has been a visiting artist at the Getty Research Center in Los Angeles, he received a Visual Arts Fellowship from the American Academy in Rome, and he is currently a professor in the University of Miami, School of Architecture.
