CERAMICS BOOK HERE
Beginning Wheel Throwing – Ages 18+
Learn the basics of throwing pottery with an understanding of ceramic terms and processes needed to use the pottery studio safely and independently. Topics include centering clay, throwing basic forms, crafting handles and glazing. Sessions include demonstrations and practice time under the guidance of the instructor, as well as glaze, firing, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time.
Attendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. Clay must be purchased from the museum. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. Includes glazing materials and weekly open studio hours. NO outside glazes are allowed. Open studio times subject to change – always call the front desk in ahead of arriving to verify studio schedule. All levels welcome; if you are taking this course and have experience, please note that primarily beginner instruction will be provided.

Intermediate Hand Building – Ages 18+
Take your pinching, coiling, slab forming, and glazing skills to the next level with the support of an experienced instructor. Sessions include demonstrations, introductions of various techniques, and practice time under the guidance of the instructor, as well as glazing, firing, and access to the studio during scheduled open studio time.
Attendance to the first class and the glazing class is mandatory. You may bring your own tools or purchase them at the museum. Clay must be purchased from the museum. Includes glazing materials and weekly open studio hours. NO outside glazes unless pre-approved by Museum staff prior to use in the studio—contact the Museum to receive a form. DRAWING BOOK HERE
Figure Drawing – Ages 18+
If you want to learn anatomy and how to draw the figure, this course is for you. Students will learn to develop the figure through proportion, shape, value, relationship lines, and gestural-action lines. You will use techniques for developing volume through half tones, highlights, and cast shadows in a variety of materials. PAINTING BOOK HERE
Exploring Acrylic– Ages 18+
Learn the foundations of acrylic paints and work with concepts of color theory, color mixing, textures, and brushwork techniques. Each session will explore different topics and subjects of acrylic painting and acrylic paint mediums. This is a beginner’s class but can also be a valuable refresher for artists of every level. Botanical Mixed Media Art – Ages 18+
Botanical arrangements and specimens are a staple in the history of art. The challenges and rewards of capturing the beauty of the natural world results in not only an amazing image but also increased skill with your medium. In this mixed media course, learn to tune your eyes to the delicate details and colors of flowers, plants, and other botanical forms through drawing, painting, collage, and other exciting techniques. Private Class Lessons
Looking for one on one instruction? Private classes are great for artists that are interested in developing their skills and advancing them to the next level. These special lessons are especially great for artists who prefer focused one on one instruction or for someone who can’t make it to a scheduled group class.
