Drawing Fundamentals

August 18 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Build confidence and strengthen your core drawing skills in this 4-week workshop designed to create a solid foundation in the visual arts. Whether you are a complete beginner or returning to drawing after time away, this course offers a supportive and engaging introduction to the essential tools, techniques, and ways of seeing that every artist needs.

Over four weeks, students will explore the building blocks of drawing, including line, shape, proportion, value, shading, texture, composition, and perspective. Through guided exercises and focused studies, you will learn how to observe more carefully and translate what you see onto the page with greater accuracy and confidence. We will work from a variety of simple still-life arrangements and reference materials to develop form, depth, structure, and expressive mark-making.

Each class includes demonstrations, hands-on practice, and individualized guidance to help you progress at your own pace. Emphasis is placed on process, skill-building, and learning to trust your eye rather than striving for perfection. By the end of the workshop, students will leave with stronger technical abilities, a deeper understanding of observational drawing, and the confidence to continue their artistic journey.
