Opening Reception: Continuum: Heritage and Expression

May 7 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free

Join us for the Opening Reception for Continuum: Heritage & Expression, the inaugural exhibition of the Haitian Women Fine Art Collective (HAWFA), a sisterhood of artists united through culture, creativity, and mutual support. Presented at the Coral Springs Museum of Art in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month, this exhibition explores identity, memory, and transformation through painting, textile, and metalwork. Each work reflects a personal journey while contributing to a shared narrative of resilience, beauty, and cultural continuity, honoring the past while shaping contemporary Haitian artistic expression. The artwork will be on view in the Center for the Arts Lobby Hall Gallery through May 29.

In addition to celebrating the work of these talented female artists, the event will also honor the life and legacy of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer with remarks from Commissioner Joshua Simmons, commemorative artwork by Harold Caudio, and a memory ribbon art activity.

Guests are invited to attend Coral Springs’ annual National Day of Prayer ceremony beginning at 7pm in the adjacent Coral Springs Center for the Arts theater.

Admission to both the Opening Reception and National Day of Prayer is free. Light bites will be provided and select beverages will be available for purchase inside the Museum’s Main Gallery.
