WORKSHOP: Throwing Lidded Vessels with Mark Lester

Whether you’re just learning how to throw a jar, or you’re a veteran maker looking to refine your teapots, making a quality lid is an essential part of the process. In this workshop students will learn:
- How to throw a vessel that is properly suited for a lid.
- 6 different ways to create lids for any ceramic vessel.
- How to use calipers to make lids that fit precisely.
- The impact of clay shrinkage on the measuring process.
- Basics of tap centering and water sealing to trim vessels and lids.
- Using silicon carbide to refine lids post firing.
Supplies will be provided, but bring a caliper if you have one!
